I was born in Nelspruit, South Africa and am now living in Montgomery, Texas. Figuring out the accounting side of small business has been a transformational element along my journey, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to help other people have a better understanding of their books as well.

My accounting career started with tutoring accounting at the college I studied at. This was extremely rewarding, and I loved assisting students in understanding basic concepts so that they could apply them to more complex ones. Since then, I worked in the accounting department at a manufacturing company, as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager at a CPA firm, and as an Assistant Controller at a small private bank. I am also certified in QuickBooks Online.

One thing that has been missing from my working career has been the feeling that I am making a difference. Before I studied accounting, I had my own business which was unrelated to accounting. I remember that the accounting side of the business was always the bane of my life and I just wanted to focus on my business. I decided to put my business on hold and take an accounting course. An interesting thing happened – once I did not have my business to focus on, I realized that I really enjoyed accounting. That one course developed into an associate’s degree, which then advanced to a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
